Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2025
Paiges is built for readers, not advertisers. We collect only what we need to make the app work. We do not sell your personal data.
Paiges ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Her Tech Legacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use the Paiges mobile application ("App").
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a username you choose. This is used to identify your account and allow you to sign in.
Profile Information
You may optionally provide a display name, bio, pronouns, profile photo, banner image, accent color, and social media handles (Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, Goodreads, YouTube). This information may be visible to other Paiges users if you choose to make your profile public.
Reading Data
We store the books you add to your shelf, including titles, authors, genres, tropes, ratings, written reviews, quotes, reading dates, reading status, cover images, and any other details you enter. Each entry can be set to public or private — private entries are only visible to you.
Memory Capsules
Memory Capsules are personal reading journal entries attached to a book. This content (feelings, standout moments, reread preference, location) is stored on your device locally and in your account. It is private by default and not shared in the community feed.
Reading Preferences (Local Storage)
Certain preferences are stored locally on your device only and are never sent to our servers. These include your shelf color themes, dark mode setting, challenge progress, content idea order, and reading log entries.
Goodreads Import
If you choose to import from Goodreads, you provide a public Goodreads profile URL. We fetch your public reading data from Goodreads' RSS feed to import your books. We store your Goodreads user ID on your device to enable periodic syncing. We do not store your Goodreads password or any private Goodreads data.
Notification Data
If you grant permission, we collect a push notification token to send you reading reminders. You can revoke notification permissions at any time in your iPhone Settings. We do not send marketing notifications without your explicit consent.
Device Information
We collect basic device information necessary to operate the App, including your device type and operating system version. We do not collect precise location data.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your Paiges account
- To display your reading shelf, stats, calendar, and profile
- To enable community features including the friend feed and friend connections
- To import and sync your reading data from Goodreads (if you opt in)
- To send reading reminder notifications (only if you grant permission)
- To process and manage your in-app subscription via RevenueCat
- To improve the app and fix bugs
3. Information Visible to Other Users
The following may be visible to other Paiges users, depending on your privacy settings:
- Your username, display name, bio, and profile photo
- Book entries you mark as "Public"
- Your reading stats when shown on your public profile
Book entries marked as "Private" are never shown to other users. You can change the visibility of any entry at any time by editing it.
4. Third-Party Services
Supabase
We use Supabase to securely store your account, profile, and reading data in a PostgreSQL database. Supabase is hosted on AWS infrastructure. See supabase.com/privacy.
RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to manage Paiges Premium subscriptions. RevenueCat processes your subscription status and purchase history. See revenuecat.com/privacy.
Apple App Store
All in-app purchases are processed by Apple. Apple's privacy practices apply to payment and billing information. See apple.com/legal/privacy.
Google Books API
We use the Google Books API to search for book information (titles, authors, covers). Your search queries are sent to Google's servers. No account or personal data is shared with Google through this integration. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Open Library (Internet Archive)
We use Open Library to retrieve book cover images when Google Books does not have one available. No personal data is shared with Open Library.
Goodreads (Amazon)
If you opt in to Goodreads import, we access your public Goodreads RSS feed. This connection is initiated by you and can be disconnected at any time from Settings. We do not have a formal partnership with Goodreads and only access publicly available data.
Amazon
Book detail pages may include an "Find on Amazon" button. Tapping this opens Amazon's website in your browser. We do not share personal data with Amazon, and we do not use affiliate tracking.
Expo (Meta)
Paiges is built with Expo, a React Native development platform. Expo may collect anonymous crash and performance data to help us identify and fix bugs. See expo.dev/privacy.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers. We share data only with the third-party services listed above that are necessary to operate the App, or as required by law.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently and immediately removed from our servers. Local device data (preferences, cached content) is cleared when you uninstall the App.
7. Your Rights & Account Deletion
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data by editing your profile within the App
- Delete your account and all associated data at any time
- Export your reading data (contact us at the email below)
- Opt out of push notifications at any time via iPhone Settings
To delete your account, go to Settings → Delete Account within the App. This is immediate, permanent, and cannot be undone. You may also contact us to request deletion.
8. Children's Privacy
Paiges is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS) and secure database access controls through Supabase. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
